He speculated that Elena’s transformation may create some distance between them,stating, “Maybe he won’t be attracted to her as much, because it’ll remind him of himself. Men like the opposites. He hates himself because he’s a vampire, right? So, I don’t know; maybe he’s going to project.”
In related news, producer Julie Plec also revealed that Stefan is going to go even darker this season,and may never really find his way back to being nice,good, Stefan anymore because he’s so damaged. Stay tuned. Season 4 debuts on October 11th,2012.
“There is an overreaching arc of evil, and this year, we’re doing something a little different in that we don’t know or say who that is right away. …that’s a question we’ll be asking a lot in the first few episodes as we build up to our first kind of reveal of the season’s bad guy.” These characters are going to have a lot on their hands already that has been revealed. There’s the vampire hunter, Connor, coming to town. Klaus is still around, and there’s always going to be trouble when the Original is a factor.
