Per Paul Wesley, speaking to EW, during Episode 19 “Stefan” and “Elena” (Nina Dobrev) will be “on a bit of mission, [and] during that mission, they sort of divert and talk about their relationship and the reality of what they’ve been through. It’s a good story-line plot point that allows the two of them to be in a close situation and allows for a little bit of intimacy.”
He also says that “audiences can look forward to Stefan and Elena getting one step closer by the end of the season to potentially reuniting.”
Wesley cautions, though, that things between them are not going to be the same as they were season one.
From E! Online, Wesley said, “It’s one of those things were they look at each other say, ‘Hey, maybe this is too late. Maybe it’s too late to actually salvage this.’ I think it’s two people who really love one another very deeply getting to a place of resolution about the fact that there may be no hope . . . They have to conquer that. And I’m not saying they do because they certainly don’t. I’m filming episode 21 right now and it’s not like they’re a lovey-dovey couple. But what I’m saying is the more truthful they are about what has happened, the more grim it is. But at the same time, it’s more intimate because they’re sharing these truths with one another.”
Wesley also indicated that the season finale will include the flashback scene from the “Gilbert” accident, as he’s preparing for some scuba diving.
Finally, Ian Somerhalder, who revealed the title for the season finale episode last night, said that the last episode of season three will make viewers cry, and,“It’s really dynamic, man. There’s so much stuff happening.”

I am very same make of these actors, their performances in The Vampire Diaries is speechless, as I watched the first seasons often. Over the last season is falling short in my point of view in regards to maintaining the values that the authors have been carrying the londo these years. As respect, friendship and family. I love the passion Ian Somerhalder great actor and person, plus the authors is destroying his character throughout this season, I bet that many true fans will agree with me that Damon Salvatore nice is not nice. We like him with his jokes and funny comments, the role of man and evil bastard. It serves as the faithful boyfriend. Since Paul Wesley is more than perfect this season … a little proud, more as an actor just perfect. Read a statement from him today where he talks of the last chapters, where he mentions the fact the character Stefan and Elena get close enough to not more resume their love as before though still love each other. I love the fact that Damon’s like Elena, most of them do not stay together because I think most importantly the love of the brothers Salvatore and that in my view would be a betrayal. Nina Anyway, I love you so much … I really admire as a professional with an interpretation more than perfect, especially with respect to Ketherine.
