I love Stefan when he’s being a friend. Caroline had been turned by Katherine, Damon had tried to kill her, and Bonnie had rejected her. If ever a girl needed a friend, this was it and Stefan stepped up to the plate admirably. That’s the kind of friend I want to be.
9) The Sacrifice-Stefan Saves Jeremy from Katherine
Jeremy’s plan to get the Moonstone from Katherine went about as well as any Gilbert plan: badly. Stefan couldn’t leave Jeremy trapped with Katherine so he took Jer’s place, to Katherine’s delight and at the expense of leaving Elena in Damon’s care. Heroes just don’t let innocent (albeit sometimes stupid) boys be trapped in tombs with 500 year old psychopathic vampires.
8 ) Founder’s Day: Stefan Saves Damon
This one makes the list because let’s face it, Season 1 Damon was mostly a brutal sadistic bastard. But Stefan braved a raging inferno to save him. He had no idea that Bonnie was going to help, he just did it. Because. And I loved it.
7) Daddy Issues-Stefan Gets Caroline What She Needs After She’s Tortured
Here’s another thing a real friend does. He knows when he can’t give you what you need, so he brings you people who can. Caroline was abused by a man and then betrayed by a male friend. She didn’t need his shoulder to cry on. Stefan intuitively knew this and so he brought her the right people: Elena and Caroline. Another stellar example of what real friendship is.
