Whoa, only two episodes left and this season is a wrap! Thursday’s episode left us expecting these last episodes to be phenomenal. I might add, Ian’s eyebrows had quite the workout this week.
My only comment for this wonderful shirtless Damon scene and I say this a lot lately: Why is Damon always shown shirtless but we don’t ever get anymore shirtless Stefan scenes? The last one was during The Descent. C’mon guys! But, in the meantime, I’ll enjoy how pretty Ian is.
Elijah is just breaking down everything he said to Elena last week to Stefan now. And yay Damon showed up continuously saying how he would willingly let Bonnie kill Klaus, and kill herself, to keep Elena alive. Romantic, no? There has to be some secret lovin’ going on between Greta and Klaus, because that short little scene doesn’t look like she’s being held captive. But, this seems like new information: Klaus needs to drink the blood of the doppelganger until the point of her death. So, Elijah has some special elixir that would bring Elena back, and Damon says to use Johns magical ring. I didn’t know that the doppelganger is also a supernatural being. I agree with Damon for once, but I still think they should use the elixir too. Makes sense and gives them more of an upper hand to bringing her back. But will common sense kick in?
Can witches compel people too? Or do they just use some of their witchy mojo to make people do stuff? Either way, that was such a fake fall. It looked like one of those blow up dolls were thrown down the stairs one time and decided to move on to the next scene.
FYI Damon, you’re one of those idiots. Stefan can be one too, by the way, but that’s besides the point. Damon’s a douche. Moving on.
I love Elijah’s honesty. And Elena’s confusion. She really is willing to die for this stupidity of a curse so many others won’t die, but she still wants to get away from it all and not be sacrificed, and live a life like she was before all this. There’s some other meanings and such to this scene I came up with but it doesn’t make sense in my head right now. Ha.

Whoa, whoa. where did Jenna come from and how does she have that crossbow? Everyone’s so badass on this show now. Yay Jenna! I so WISH we could have heard more of that story Alaric chose to prove himself with. “The first night you and I spent together, Jeremy walked in right when I was about t-” Such a tease. Oh.. the sacrifice happens tonight. That’s.. very “Klaus” of him to warn them and not just come by at night and kidnap Elena. D’aww, he wants them to all spend those last moments together. Ok, anyway…
TYLER IS BACK. Geez, Trevino, you are looking GOOD. I believe it’s his naps- hair- that made him look so good. Background music makes me want to burst out in tears. I’ve had my ups and downs with how Tyler acted with his werewolf nonsense, but this episode made me realize how much I missed him.
IT’S MATT AND CARE! They’re so cute. I really love that since Matt’s been putting on this show for her, he’s come to realize that being a vampire hasn’t changed her. She’s the same old Caroline, and I hope the Sheriff would realize that too. I love that Matt realizes they should just focus on Damon. He’s obviously the problem here. They had such lovely music playing when Caroline was with him for those 10 seconds, though. It was so adorable.
It’s nice and all that Elena still wants Damon to approve of her plan, but apparently he doesn’t care. He just wants everyone to use his plan because his plans always work. Searching for barf bag turns into searching for my nearest stake. Ladies and gentlemen, THIS IS WHY I GREATLY DISLIKE DAMON. I can’t.

Stefan to the rescue! “How could you of all people take that choice away from her?!” That’s why I love Stefan though. Damon continually acts on his selfish impulse to make things right before thinking about any actual consequences those stupid actions could have. His actions are completely selfish. All he cares about is keeping Elena alive and occasionally his brother, whenever he feels Stefan can be useful and whatnot. Stefan, on the other hand, he cares for others. He puts everyone else first before thinking about himself. He takes what Elena wants into consideration and accepts it. He’s completely unselfish. And considering that he took Damons choice to become a vampire 145 years ago away from him, and the consequences that came after it between him and Damon, he would NEVER do that to Elena. He’s lived with the guilt for making his brother turn, and in episode 208- “Rose”, he apologized for it. It would never cross his mind to force someone to turn, whether it’s Elena or not. But I must say, thanks to those blood bags, Damon really isn’t any match for Stefan. He’s obviously getting a total beatdown, and the only way for him to win is freaking staking Stefan. GREAT, NOW I HATE YOU MORE. Fair and square, Stefan won. Stefan is the better choice in everything. Also adding, this is obviously a Stefan Salvatore appreciation site.
I like that no one is in the dark about this world anymore. And I enjoy that they showed two different reactions between Matt and Jenna when finding out. Matt was possibly the most sane reaction anyone should really have in this situation. He freaked out, told an adult, a parent. He betrayed Caroline but he was so confused by it all. Jenna was, of course, distraught as well, and pretty confused too. But when Damon stuck a poll in his brothers stomach, she quickly listened to what Alaric told her to do to help Stefan and ran downstairs. Despite the pile of lies Elena and Alaric have told her. And in some way, I like both reactions. I would probably freak out too, but if my niece’s boyfriend was in pain like Stefan was, then I’d be sure to help. At least, I would think so.
Elijah’s so classy. I’m just skeptical on this whole elixir thing. I mean, it could work. But that fool has been carrying it around with him for over a century. I would be doubtful if it would work too. “Your problem, Damon, you talk a good game but you don’t actually know anything. She’ll never forgive you. And never for a vampire, is a very long time.” Don’t kill Elijah. He’s one of the few people (including Bonnie) who tells Damon how it is. I enjoy that.
“I should’ve known you can handle it.” She’s a Gilbert, dear. Of course she can. I mean, Elena is dating a vampire and Jeremy is practically like Alaric with his vampire hunting and all. But anyway, Jenna and Alaric, TOO ADORABLE. Geez, I’m dying to know who they kill off, and depending on who it is, I’ll spend my summer hiatus going through tissue box after tissue box because they’re all so adorable, and sometimes super annoying but I still love them. Except Damon. He’s dumb and irrelevant.
Stefan, baby, take that shirt off. It’s all icky and bloody. No bueno. I’m glad he’s going to do something for Elena, and finally talk about turning and all. Paul looks so good.

Trevino looks quite good as well. Oh hey, it’s Jules. Still somewhat of a douche. I mean of course he’s going to come see his mother. Caroline! It’s nice how she went to the hospital to visit Tyler’s momma. And Matt and the sheriff think she doesn’t have any humanity left after turning. Psh. Tyler does seem a bit different though. In terms of talking to Caroline now and how he used to. Seems more restrained and… mature. He’s grown so much in these past 3 months… err, one month, on the show. Dang, it seems longer than a month. Whoa. They couldn’t have went after Jules, though! She’s so irrelevant it’s ridiculous. And why not turn some other random irrelevant person on the street instead of Caroline.
Matt is totally Team Caroline. Hands down. And I still wonder how Alaric and Damon became friends. They hyped up the first Damon and Klaus scene a bit too much because it was nothing special. Joseph Morgan’s facial expression are SO much better to look at than Ian’s. Klaus does his own eyebrow thing, and it’s much more subtle than Damon’s. Damon’s eyebrows have their own party sometimes. I’m seriously so surprised Ian hasn’t needed any type of medical help for those eyebrows. Maybe he goes home and ices them. “Well, it’s been a long day of doom and gloom, you guys have been worked out a lot. I’m sure you’re both sore so I’m going to put on some ice and relax on the couch, ok guys?” Maybe he even has an extra pair lying around somewhere. Lord, I can only imagine. Never mind me. I enjoy how Klaus threatens people. It’s so casually classy. I like him when he’s not trying to kill everyone.
WATERFALLS. This was the scene that Paul tweeted to Nina a while ago. And this waterfall is 100% real. Julie tweeted that.
It’s somewhere near Atlanta, but they still had to take somewhat of a roadtrip to get there. The lighting in this scene though! It’s so purdy. Paul can’t always have such beautifully perfect hair. He probably does something like Ian does with his eyebrows. I bet you guys he has bought 20 spare customized chia pets to grow his hair and later replaces each set when they’re worn out and not so perfect. There has to be some secret to this! Anyway, how adorable is Stefan? I wouldn’t say brave, but it’s sweet of Stefan to try and get Elena to talk about that, considering whatever she’s thinking would possibly hurt him, whether or not she wants to be a vampire. And the way he looks at her! One more thing: like a friend of mine said when this aired- super power vampire jumpy thing, for the win.

Alaric needs to go grocery shopping, obviously. I know they have a bromance and all, but I wouldn’t let Damon be invited in any house within a 25 mile radius of my house. I love how easily Katherine spills where Tyler and Caroline are after what Damon tells her. Seems like she really is madly crushin’ on Stefan since 1864, and makes Elena to be more of a threat to her than she makes it seem. Also, just to continuously comment on how awesome everyone looks, how great does Nina look as Katherine in this scene? Such a beautiful cast. I’ll probably stick around next season just to stare at them.
How long has Tyler just been sitting there, watching Caroline sleep, or be unconscious, waiting for her to come to? You would think nothing would really happen in a month’s time for normal people, but in Mystic Falls, so much nonsense happens, you would think it’s been six months. Tyler has no clue what’s going on, or what’s about to happen. I wonder if she explained everything to him, though.
I want to know what Elena said after commenting that Bonnie would have to make her a daylight ring. I’ve tried figuring that out but I can’t hear what she says and it’s bothering my OCD. Anyway, Stefan’s revelation about the good and bad of being a vampire is so fantastic. And it makes so much sense for so many things. This scene is easy to watch and understand, so I’m not going to break it down for you all.
Ha. Stefan has explained in the past that when you’re a vampire, all of your natural sense become heightened. All of them. And I don’t know what show you’re watching and if you all just don’t pay attention if you can’t grasp that much. Just pointing that out. *Stefan point and clicks tongue*
Klaus is badass. I mean, who else would tell someone to just walk over to the sunlight and stand there to burn until he says so. And those screams were awkward. Agony is one of the hardest emotions to pull off, so I’m definitely not condemning Nina on her acting. It gets tough, and she’s an amazing actress as is. My recaps are also Nina Dobrev appreciation recaps at times.

MATT IS BADASS WITH THAT GUN. He just saved Damon’s butt from Maddox after he found out Damon killed his big sis’. I don’t even know why Matt would be out in the woods with a gun, or even know where to find Caroline, but hey, Damon should be grateful. Again, Matt is totally Team Caroline after everything that’s happened.
“You’re lucky I already screwed up once today, or you’d be dead.” Aw, Damon. It’s nice of you to set goals for how many times you’ll screw up each day. Gotta start somewhere, I guess. Ooh, Matty had wooden bullets. Nice, Matt.
Oh, I guess Caroline did tell Tyler everything that’s going on. Seems smart. They’re having “the talk” now. The only thing I realize that happens here, is that Caroline specifically says, “Why did you leave me?” and not, “Why did you leave town?” I think Caroline still has certain feelings to work out there with Tyler. And I’m sure they’re going to explore that more next season. Aw, Tyler’s little smirk when Caroline says she could never hate him. Plus, this scene, after Damon comes in, really shows how much Tyler has grown after all. He doesn’t get worried they’ll leave him and say, “Hey, guys! What about me?! Don’t leave me!” He sits there like the manwolf he is, like a boss. And he explains what he’ll need to do before he starts changing, also, like a boss. Damon doesn’t intimidate anyone anymore.
Stefan! Babes, you’ve climbed Mount Everest! I really think the CW should consider having Stefan’s Diaries into a TV show, and portray scenes from the books and also some other hilarious random acts he’s done in the past 145 years since turning. I’d watch that every second of every day. The waterworks that happened in this scene, and in my room. Oh gosh. No lie, Nina never fails to make me cry. Never. Every time she makes that face right before you’d start crying, I just feel like changing the channel and yelling “NO NINA. No. No. Not today.” But of course, I keep it on and cry like the baby that I am. I’d like to point out that, after the nonsense that Damon did that day to Stefan, he STILL makes excuses for him and defends Damon. I really don’t understand the hate people have for that man. He’s obviously the better brother. He even admits to her that he did what he did because Damon loves her. Just look at that pained look on his face. Oh, I’m just going to put Elena’s whole speech here because it made me BAWL so freaking MUCH.

“He doesn’t really know what love is. And to be honest, I don’t know if I do. I’m 17 years old; how am I supposed to know any of this yet? I know that I love you, Stefan. I know that. But my future? Our lives together? Those were things I was supposed to deal with as they came along. I was supposed to grow up, decide if I want to have kids and start a family, grow old. I was supposed to have a lifetime of those choices. And now? That’s all gone. I don’t want to be a vampire, Stefan. I never wanted to be one.”
Bawling such ugly, red puffy eyes, booger cries right now. Nina, my love, you never fail. This scene is the defining moment that separates this show from being compared to Twilight.
Oh yay, Tyler’s transformation is starting.
Oh. My. God. When I first saw this scene. These last few scenes are so heartbreaking for me, I can’t deal with this anymore. When I do my recaps, I watch the episode again as I write my thoughts, and I ‘ve seen this like 4 times already and it never fails. It’s such a beautiful scene. As soon as Stefan sees that Klaus is standing there, waiting to take Elena, his mood changes, his body tenses up, the expression on his face completely changes. He becomes completely protective of her. But he’s not Damon so he won’t do anything completely stupid. Everything about this scene is so perfect. The way Elena tries to comfort him and Stefan is still giving Klaus one of those “if looks could kill” stares. How they say “I love you” and the way they look at each other when they do. How Stefan give Klaus the evil glare for another moment. When Stefan opens his eyes and she’s gone, the music stops and cue wide shot. Absolutely everything about this scene is perfect, and I applaud whoever wrote it.

Stefan’s first instinct: call Damon. After everything that fool has done to Stefan, Damon is still the go-to man Stefan has. He’s panicked. He doesn’t know what to do. And being the big bro that Damon is, he says he’ll take care of it. Being in this love triangle over Elena has really diminished the relationship the brothers have. But all in all, they’re all they have, really. And I do miss the friendship they had before all of this happened. I mean, the show was about Stefan and Elena’s undying love, but it was also based around the brothers’ relationship. Season 1 was much better for this reason.
EW. I didn’t realize how disturbing Tyler’s transformation was at this moment until his hands did a complete 180. And just look at Matt’s face watching one of his best friends transform into a werewolf. Tears, all around.
“And you can kill me for it. I don’t care. It was all me.” Either he wants everyone to know he “saved the day” or he’s just being impulsive. I love how everyone easily realizes that Damon is in love with Elena. There’s sarcasm in that last sentence, by the way. OH. Klaus has backup werewolves. He probably has a backup backup backup BACKUP, just in case, for anything that may go wrong. He has been trying to break that curse for a while now, so it’d only be logical that he can “out-Damon, Damon”.
Matt, please put down that gun somewhere. It’s not badass anymore. “Tyler, it’s me. Caroline.” Aw. That’s cute but he’s trying to eat you.
Well, Damon woke up. Why does Katherine seem like she’s trying to be nice or something? It’s weird. I can’t tell.
This would have been a good time for Elena to actually tell Greta what happened with her father and brother, if she doesn’t already know. Like try and do something so you won’t die, woman! Looks like Greta has more power than Bonnie though. Yikes. That might backfire then. And… OH MY GOD JENNA. OH LAWD. She JUST found out about this world, though! That poor thing. I was definitely not expecting them to do this to Jenna. But geez, is everyone in this town eventually going to turn?

YAY. Look, it’s a werewolf bite. Klaus mentioned that he knew one of the brothers would try to ruin his plans so it was just a 50/50 guess of who, really. If it wasn’t for that wolf bite he has on his arm, Klaus would have used him in the ritual. And I wouldn’t have mind, at all. I’d actually consider throwing a party. I don’t know. But to be real, Damon isn’t going to die. Being it Ian that plays Damon, I highly doubt Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec would kill him off, especially this early. I just hope none of this broody, self-hate and whatnot Damon has doesn’t go into season 3. Aaaand, there’s our cliffhanger until next week.
So, MVP award for tonight’s episode goes to the trio- Paul Wesley, Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder. Paul, of course, was absolutely flawless as usual. His acting is amazing and he sucks majorly for making me ugly cry whenever he and Nina have emotional scenes. And Ian is a part of this MVP because he was great last week. The Stefan and Damon fight at the beginning of the episode was amazing. The trio is amazing and I’ll add that they are all such wonderful people.
Next week, the sacrifice happens. And some other stuff.
