We have survived the final hiatus! The break is over, and we are back to 6 more weeks of non-interrupted new episodes from The Vampire Diaries. We’re all ecstatic about having new episodes, but this brings us closer to the Season 2 finale. The cast and crew have been very good at keeping secrets about the last few episodes, and especially the finale. So! Let’s get to it. Also, SO SO SO sorry for such a late recap.
Last episode ended with Mommy dearest returning to Mystic Falls, and it seems like no one is going to be kept in the dark about what’s going on soon enough. I applaud Sara Canning for this scene, and pretty much her only scene in this episode. I’m sure I said it before, but she never gets much of a chance to show off her talent. This scene made me tear up pretty bad. Plus, Jenna is finally getting a pretty good storyline. At least, if she knows, she won’t invite random people in the house anymore.

I love this Damon, Stefan, Katherine scene. Mostly because of Katherine, really. And her push-up bra. (Sorry Paul)
. And the last scene in this episode makes me worry she’ll die soon. Honestly, Katherine is one of my favorites, despite all the nonsense she’s done to the boys earlier in the season. Oh, and Stefan’s little wink thing.. kind of swoon worthy, considering it’s Paul Wesley.
Back at the Gilbert house, all I really have to say about this scene: YES ALARIC! You all know that fool deserved more than that punch though. Elena’s face: priceless!

So, all I gather from this Stefan and Caroline phone call is that Matt is vervain free at the moment and Sheriff Forbes interrupted Matt’s meltdown the night before and he took off and disappeared. She didn’t even say “bye” though.
Who even let John in the house in the first place? If vampires can’t enter a home without the owners’ invitation, then how is Johns irrelevant self able to let Isobel in? And why don’t these fools just change all the deeds to their house if that’s the case? Isobel said since the deed of this house she’s giving Elena is in her name, then no vampire can enter without her say so. I’m a little confused by all this but okay. It’s The Vampire Diaries anyway, these people tend to confuse me all the time. All in all, I’m happy Elena isn’t buying into all this nonsense Isobel is throwing at her. She obviously hasn’t given Elena a reason to trust her, so why now?
After all this girl has done, she still wants to give Luka a proper burial whilst stealing his witchy spell books. That’s sweet.
I also love how that cowboy is still around. But there’s not much for me to say for this scene because I’ve never cared for Isobel so I was hoping Katherine would just snap her neck and walk out the room like Naomi Campbell, like the HBIC that she is.
I was also not very interested in this scene after the commercial break either. Isobels voice bores me. I was focused more on Katherine. Nina is such a natural.. my opinion. She’s much more interesting. Not much information to be told here too.

So, at this moment, the plan to keep Elena safe is to never let her out of their sight again. That should be interesting. Considering Damon screws up everything at some point. I really do love these scenes with Katherine and Elena. Nina is such a great actress for taking on double the work for these roles. While pulling it off so flawlessly. Excuse me while I talk about how incredible Nina Dobrev is. Damon’s wit though, I’ve missed you. In a recent interview with Zap2it, Paul explains how these scenes come together. It’s either his amazing scotch tape skills, a hologram, or a pretty amazing special effects team. I’ll go with Paul’s awesome scotch tape skills. Seems legit.
I really wonder why Mrs. Lockwood doesn’t seem too worried about her son disappearing. She just acts like “No, honey, I haven’t seen Matt around but if you hear from Tyler, holla at me, k? K. Now.. when shall we arrange another Council meeting, Sheriff?” I mean, come on lady! You are a very concerned mother. I know my mother would have called the police, the SWAT team, FBI, CIA, and the secret service by now. Anyway, I really love how Caroline continues to believe everything in her life should happen as if it were a happy fairytale. She’s so adorable and innocent. I hope they don’t kill her off though. But, THAT LITTLE HEAD BUMP THOUGH. OH LAWD. MY HEART. Stefan and Elena’s cuteness is too much. “Maybe he’ll come around… you did.” I CAN’T. I’M SORRY. That had to be the best scene in the first half of this episode.

Jeremy is such a little kid. “..That was before I knew what a nasty little bitch Katherine was.” *Jeremy chuckles*. So cute. They couldn’t have picked a creepier mansion for this burial ground. The fact that these witches are still powerful enough to cut the power from Damon’s ring is pretty amazing. Makes you wonder how powerful they were when they were alive. Or maybe it’s just Emily screwing with Damon from beyond. Sidenote: When is she coming back to the show anyway? Or Bonnie’s long lost witch cousin, Lucy, right? Is Bonnie going to be getting some help fighting Klaus in the next episodes or what? Because it’d be seriously messed up to kill of another one of Jeremy’s girlfriends. I don’t even know what that’ll do to the boy.
My thoughts on this scene consist of mainly: “Nina you amazingly sly person, you.” “She really is a completely different person when playing Katherine. Such smooth sneaky movements.” and last but not least.. ‘DAMON IS SUCH AN IDIOT. WHAT KIND OF HIDING PLACE IS THAT? IN A FREAKING SOAP BOWL! NEVER LET THAT BOY DO ANYTHING EVER AGAIN.” I was also semi expecting Katherine to comment on Damons stupidity.
Are the writers trying to make us feel sorry for Isobel? Because clearly, neither Alaric nor I feel anything for her. I’d always wanted to stake her from the beginning. OH LOOK THOUGH. It’s a white witch! That’s a first for this show! All the witches we’ve seen were black. From Emily, Lucy to Jesus Jonas and his witch family. And I am definitely not being racist here guys! Just clearing that up
. Either this witch is white, or he’s just a very pale, indoorsy black person. Either way, the guy is different. Plus, I can’t help but notice, it looks like Isobel might be tearing up a bit while trying to walk away like a boss. Hmm.
“Screw you too!… Emily.” I’m trying to tell you! Damon and his wit go together perfectly! Not his broody “Boo me, my brother’s girlfriend doesn’t love me back!” Bring this back more often, and less of the broody, boring Damon. That mansion is seriously creepy. I wouldn’t last that long in there with all that witchy stuff happening in such a creepy place. Yes, I know, I’m a chicken. Now, Jeremy should know that when Bonnie answers him saying :”Nothing” you know she’s hiding something.
That proud look of satisfaction on Stefans face when Elena goes up for her speech! Such subtleness, so adorable. And of course, all nice things don’t last very long so.. BAM! Kidnapped yet AGAIN, Elena. Nina had a bit of a New York type of accent when she said “borrow”. Sorry, had to throw that in there.
Another Sidenote: I can’t help but feel like the CW is trying to get me to buy a Ford Focus. Seems like everyone on the show but the boys have a Ford Focus. Plus, there’s Katerina Graham advertising said car as well. And about a thousand commercials during the show about it.
Seriously though Stefan. I don’t understand how this fool instantly knew it was Katherine during the season 2 premiere, then couldn’t tell the difference after she got out of the tomb at the Salvatore boarding house, and now conveniently knew it was Katherine when Elena was kidnapped again. You should always know, Stefan! Can I also say how much I love how Katherine effortlessly threw Stefan in the bushes and nonchalantly got in the car and drove off like it’s all good.

Back at the witch burial ground, Bonnie starts to freak out, and so does Jeremy. I’m possibly one of the few people who actually really like Bonnie, so I’m very worried about her dying before season end. I mean, again, the boy can’t handle three dead girlfriends in about a years time, more or less.
I was surprised at how calmly Damon described Johns supernatural ring to Sheriff Forbes and Mrs.Lockwood. “Oh, ya know, Johns ring is able to bring him back to life if he’s killed by some supernatural entity. And you mind bringing me a glass of Bourbon while I drag him out of here? Thanks, doll.” You’d think he’d be smart enough to not…. never mind. Damon isn’t that smart to keep his mouth shut. Knowing about that ring might come back to bit him in the butt, and hurt him even more.
MATTY BOY. Zach Roerig looks different all angry and vengeful. It’s meaner, stronger, sexy. (See what I did there, ah.
). Too bad he just got manhandled by the Sheriff.
Such “TVD” like to just drop Uncle John in the middle of the doorway, on the floor, get blood on your shirt and conveniently have to take said shirt off before getting angry at all the soaps. So many soaps! Which one shall he choose! Hang on guys, it’s Damon, so it may take a while. Hard, life altering decisions. By the way, yes Damon, Plan “Hide Moonstone in SoapDish” was a BAD idea.
“I’m sorry, Katherine. I had to do what I was told. He wanted the moonstone and he wanted you.” I should have known that this lady would have turned around and betrayed everyone. But, it looks like Klaus is still after Katherine, and the pale witch boy got her.
Oh it’s Matt again! Seems somewhat nice of Sheriff Forbes to bring Matt back to her place to cool down. That flinch away from Caroline that Matt did breaks my heart a bit. The boy has been through SO much and he really is alone now that he feels Caroline betrayed him. Even though I think he should actually talk to Caroline and come to terms with her being a vampire and all, like Elena did. He should definitely NOT be doing anything with the Sheriff.
Bonnie and Jeremy cuteness though! The leaves flying around special effects trick is still pretty cool. And yeah, I’m probably a sucker for still thinking that. I love everything about this show, sue me. Bonnie is now Storm from X-Men though. Four for you Bonnie! You’ve upgraded!

Why don’t these fools use their super vamp speed when looking for Elena? Stefan has spent too much time with Damon, the stupidity may be rubbing off.
Wasn’t Isobel the one driving when on the phone with Katherine? Yes, I notice these things. It’s nice to see a more human side of Isobel after all the nonsense she’s done to piss me off, though. It would have been somewhat nice for Elena to actually have a good mother. But nice things and Elena don’t go together. You gotta admit, right now, her life kind of sucks. And watching your birth mother take off her necklace to burn and die right in front of you is like the icing on the cake so far. And I say so far because this is definitely not the worst this girl is going to see.
Even though Matt pissed me off at some point, which I don’t remember because of that damn hiatus, this scene seriously breaks my heart. The boy is seriously alone. And what he says… “I’m all alone. My mom doesn’t care, my sister’s dead, and all my friends are liars.” My creys. I just wanna give that boy a hug.
I wish I would get handed over that Salvatore house. That place is amazing. As long as Stefan comes with the house, I wouldn’t mind. But I would lock Damon out and throw is crap out the window and resume funtime with Stefan.
So here’s what I pretty assumed would happen when all of this started. Bonnie uses all of her powers to kill Klaus, and bam, she dies. But I guess this whole season has been all about saving Elena so I’m not surprised she’d be willing to die for her. Again, I’m just worried about Jeremy if that would actually happen.
So, I’m done with Matt after that. YOU’RE NOT SUPPOSED TO OUT YOUR GIRLFRIEND BOY. She could be an alien like Matt Davis and you’re still supposed to be on her side and love her no matter what fool! Forget you boy, where’s Tyler?! Matt, boy, you need to learn a thing or two about vampires before getting into this. Being against these fools right now is not very smart.
Such an emotional scene with Uncle John and Elena. I don’t like the guy, at all, but Elena doesn’t have much of a choice in the parent department anymore, so he’s all she’s got right now. Seems like he’ll be sticking around a bit longer. I just hope this fool doesn’t turn around and betray them again. I’ll be watching him like a hawk.
So, now, recapping the events for the day at the Salvatore house. Elena kidnapped and returned, Katherine kidnapped and still gone, although it seems like they don’t care, and Bonnie gaining some extra power from dead witches. Although, I’m not sure this “secret weapon” thing will work out too good.
Oh hey! It’s Katherine! There’s some witchy juju going on here. At first, I actually thought we were going to meet Joseph Morgan here, even though Julie and the media told us all that we’d meet Klaus in later episodes. I guess they pulled one over on us a bit. It’s a bit of a creepy scene. But the fact that Klaus is actually in Alaric’s body, is a bit trippy. And my million dollar question is: what happens to Alaric once Klaus leaves his body?

I’d have to give MVP to Nina, Zach and Matt. You all know that Nina is flawless and playing Katherine and Elena is one hell of a job. Zach Roerig’s acting is being showcased a bit more often now that Matt is actually getting somewhat of a storyline now. And Matt Davis and that accent at the end. I can’t. He’s getting a storyline too! And something better to do than grade papers.
Now, tomorrow night, we’ll get to see what happens at another Decade Dance when Klaus/Alaric chaperone’s. We haven’t seen that school in a while. And the promo doesn’t look too shabby either.
