The House Guest is the last episode we had before the very last hiatus The Vampire Diaries has this season *collective sigh of relief and joy there will be no more torture when TVD returns*. My expectations were a bit high going into this episode because it was the last episode we get before this horrible 6 week hiatus, so I needed the cliffhanger and events in this show to keep me alive through these next 6 weeks. I was very happy about this episode, but either way, I’m always pretty happy with this show since it’s my favorite.
So, the beginning of this episode, I like. At least Stefan didn’t cock block himself like he always does. “School? Doesn’t ring a bell.” Yeee, cuteness Stelena. Oh, then Damon chokes Katherine…? No, it’s Elena..? Now Stefan is upstairs choking Katherine…? AH! This show confuses me. Katherine fooled everyone, yet again. It amazes me how Nina Dobrev still does not have an Oscar.
More Klaus conversation. (FYI, Klaus is coming April 16, I believe is the date). I really love it when Elena and Katherine are in the same room together. I obviously love Nina. She does such an incredible job with these roles. (“Katerina” is one of my favorite episodes due to the fact that it’s pretty much Nina talking to herself about herself..hmm).
IT’S MATT AND CAROLINE. Oh, the Tyler conversation we’ve been waiting for. Matt says that Tyler “says goodbye without really saying goodbye” and that was it. Matt fails to tell Caroline that Tyler pretty just gave up and handed over Caroline to him without much of a fight. Which is fine by me because I like Matt and Caroline better. “Since when am I the one that can express himself and you’re the one at a lost for words? You know how I feel, so it’s your move. Just make a decision, or leave me alone.” MATT HAS LINES.

Stefan drives again! I can never really imagine Paul actually driving that car. Stefan and Elena are so cute though. I thoroughly enjoy these scenes and have been very happy there hasn’t been much Damon/Elena scenes these past few episodes. “But that doesn’t mean I want her shaking up with you”. I love that line. “Maybe Katherine can join us” I love that line too! I like this episode already. Snarky Elena is great. Aaaannd, there’s another girls night coming up! I hope we see more of that.
Damon wants Katherine. I know it. He’s just hiding it. I really like how much Damon wants to know why Katherine didn’t tell him he’d die if he used the dagger on Elijah. It’s Katherine, she’s the HBIC. She wanted out of the tomb. It didn’t matter to her who died in the process, it’s all about worrying about #1, and that’s Katherine.
Talk about Katherine, Luka, Jesus Jonas. Irrelevant nonsense. Yay, Jeremy and Bonnie scenes! They are so adorable, I just can’t. I love how Bonnie’s so worried about Elena knowing her best friend is dating her little brother, and just gives Jeremy a little peck. Steven R. McQueen and Katerina Graham have really great chemistry together.
I think I’m the only one that didn’t notice this whole eyeliner thing on Matt Davis this episode. I still somewhat don’t.. *kanye shrug*. I didn’t like that fact that John just dropped everything on Alaric to tell Jenna everything. I want her to know because her ignorance about this has become dangerous since season 1. I mean, you don’t just invite everyone in your house. But, Alaric should tell her when he thought it was a good time to and all that jazz. She really needs to know, and it’s necessary she doesn’t invite anyone else in the house.
Oh, Junior and Jesus Jonas. I don’t care for them. Bonnie apologies for mentally witch raping Luka for info on Klaus and Stefan continues to make peace. The usual day in Mystic Falls.
Ha, even Katherine realizes Damons pouting is getting out of hand. Oh how I love Katherine. I’m glad she’s out. I also think Damon and Katherine should just have hate sex already. So apparently, when a witch dies, they release some “mystical energy”. The current assumption is that this energy could be used to kill Klaus. We’ll see. It’s odd how Damon can sense when Stefan’s in the room without even looking but he can’t tell the difference between Elena and Katherine. This is why Stefan is my favorite.. and other reasons.
More of the ManWitches. Junior is worried. Jesus Jonas plans on bringing back Elijah while hating on Stefan and his brother (that’s right Damon, you are now referred to as “Stefans brother” HA). And Luka’s sister is named Greta. We might meet her soon. Not in this episode though.

Girl’s night! Oh lawd, Caroline’s favorite movie would be “The Notebook”. Sidenote: Is that Caroline’s PHONE? That is one damn huge phone! Ok. “Because I am a winner when it comes to successful relationships”. “You too?” “You have no idea.” I giggled. Again, Jenna needs to know. And they reiterate that in this scene. Maybe if she knows, she’ll handle herself better. Including the whole inviting everyone in the house thing. That’s a huge problem.
Ew, more ManWitches. Wait, what is this candle lighting ceremony? “Concentrate on Elijah”. This is such a cool power though. Jesus Jonas sends Junior on a psychic mind trip to the Salvatore house to find Elijah. But, Damon and Katherine can’t see him. He has invisible powers! I kind of wish I was a witch. But the idiot would think it’s Elena and not Katherine.
Oh, Damon can read. That’s refreshing. At least he’s not a total idiot. “Emily Bennet was taken by the council today. they kidnapped her from her home and took her to the same location her ancestors were burned 100 years ago.” The writers are giving us a lot of information lately. Emily also died on the site of the massacre. And more sexual tension between Damon and Katherine. They really should just have hate sex already. Katherine gets hungry and goes down in the basement to get blood from the Salvatore stash.. which Luka is being a creeper in the corner and seems to find this completely normal in “Elena”.

Stefan and his brother are keeping things from Katherine. Which probably is a good thing since Paul mentioned that she’s still a threat in an interview. And Luka still doesn’t realize that it’s not Elena. Geez dude, you’re the dumbest witch I’ve ever seen. And yet he has the nerve to try and kill my bb! Oh, JK, Luka’s so dumb he doesn’t know where someone’s heart is so obviously Katherine’s not going to die. I still freaked out. If the writers decided to kill Katherine in the middle of an episode by some random secondary character, I would have had the biggest fit any child would ever have. Her death needs to be one of the most epic death’s on this show.
All is right in the world, Katherine is alive. But Jesus Jonas is possibly the worst father. He should have pulled Luka out when Katherine showed up. Just stabbed her and left. Even though it’s one of the worst ways Luka could have died, I laughed a little too hard. And Damon sounded a little too country when he was using that flamethrower so that didn’t help me at all. I need to get me one of those. Ha.
So, at the Mystic Grill, things just got real awkward. Alaric walks in and Matt walks by. “Not tonight, Rick. Tonight I’ve traded you for Señor Tequila”. I giggled here too. Sara Canning doesn’t the credit she deserves on her acting. The whole cast is amazing, some get more appreciation than others and it’s nice when certain characters get a chance to shine. Speaking of which, Candice Accola gets her moment here when she shows off her singing talent. “You are going to let me live my rockstar fantasies and you are going to be my backup”. I’m so Team Caroline. Candice is an amazing singer and I was literally squealing during this scene. I loved everything. Caroline’s dorky speech. Candice singing. Matt coming up onstage and kissing her in front of everyone. Bonnie and Elena’s faces watching this. I loved this entire scene so much! That scene was completely needed and perfectly done.

Gorilla Jesus Jonas. Me angry. Me take out Elena cheerleading photo. I’m sorry, I laugh at such horrible things sometimes. But it’s really creepy that Jonas still has that picture. It’s not weird at all. And Luka looks horrible. “He killed them. He’s dead and I have no one. And you’re about to find out exactly what that feels like.” I’m possibly part of the few people who really likes Elena so I started to really freak out about what in the hell Jonas was about to do.
Damon decided to stay home and stab Katherine a few times. What a wonderful brother. So, Katherine explains that John offered her deal. He knew that killing Elijah would get her out of the tomb so he gave her a choice: stay and help with Klaus or kill Stefan. Katherine knew Damon could die, she could only save one of them. So Katherine chose Stefan. Ouch. Damon gets punched in the stomach, yet again being sloppy seconds.
MORE MATT AND CAROLINE. I can’t even. This bathroom make-out session when Matt is supposed to be working. And Elena walked in. It’s just too much. “Would it freak you out if I started dating your brother?” Ba, way to just drop the bomb on Elena, Bonnie. I really liked that she’s ok with Bonnie and Jeremy dating. He really does deserve some good loving since, you know, all his girlfriends died.

Oh crap, what is Jesus Jonas doing at the grill? Bonnie, go control him! Wait, Matt, why would you leave the bathroom?! This is unacceptable! Matt, trying to be the hero up against Jesus Jonas is way above your pay grade. BONNIE! My bb is down. Ugh. This dude! CAROLINE! Oh. My. God. MATT! He just stabbed Matt in the neck with a piece of a bottle! I cannot. This scene totally freaked me out. I pretty much just had a heart attack. Candice Accola pretty much screams and cries better than anyone (more or less) and Matt just can’t die! I refuse to see Matt die! Dr.ManWitch, you need to die. You’ve royally upset me and that doesn’t fly with me.
I love that after everything, Caroline still feels the need to psych herself up enough to bite her own wrist and feed Matt her blood. And Matts face when Caroline is feeding him.. priceless. He looks so disgusted, I chuckled.
“Now why would we check the house.” Silly Jeremy. Have you not learned? It’s really Katherine! That was such a good bait and switch move, though. He’s not really dead yet! What is he trying to do to Bonnie?! Oh, ok, Stefan came in and finished him off with a neck snap. Katherine’s skills were a bit slacking in that kill. Bonnie’s too good for this world. After everything she feels the need to question killing Jonas. Oh you precious being you.
I don’t know why Damon and Elena didn’t like Katherine’s plan. It was a damn good plan, I would have been perfectly okay with it. And I also believe Elena should have at least thanked Katherine for saving her despite how much she may hate the child. That’s just my opinion.
“Isobel is dead. And there are things about her death I can’t tell you and aren’t for me to tell.” Oh he’s trying to tell the truth but still lying at the same time. Nice try though, Jenna doesn’t buy it. Unless Jenna gets the whole story, she’s still gonna be mad at you buddy.

Oh my gawd, this cuteness that is Bonnie and Jeremy in this scene. So subtle, so amazing. He cares so much. And Bonnie has her powers back! Oh, she may be getting a little kinky with her witchy juju. BONNIE KNOWS HOW TO KILL KLAUS. I’m sorry. This show excites me like no one else.
NINA. Look at you girl. Look at them legs. Look at those boobs. Look at that flawless hair. She’s so pretty. Ok.. So Katherine turned in Emily. Not much of a surprise now. It’s Katherine. “Katherine, there are six other bedrooms in this house… go find one.” OH LAWD. Damon has lines though! LOL. Kidding, he always has lines. Damon cock blocked himself to continue reading. What is this? I was so ready for that hate sex. Honestly, I wouldn’t have sent Katherine off to find one of those six bedrooms. Although, she’d probably go find Stefan’s bedroom and do the same thing but continue to get rejected.
Oh, Matt and Caroline. Caroline’s so sweet for thinking that after her declaration of being a vampire she could really just go back to having a wonderful relationship with Matt and have no freak out. Matt has every right to freak out the way he did. And the fact that Vicki is the first thing that comes to mind is great. Meaning, her death is still a vivid memory. He remembers everything that happened so he’ll try to justify her death. I couldn’t process any of this because at the moment this episode aired, I was too busy trying to pick my jaw up from the floor during these last few minutes. I can’t wait to see how Matt deals with knowing.
Isobel is back! Mommy dearest! After like 10 minutes ago when Alaric swore to Jenna she was dead. This is going to be interesting in the next episode. In 6 weeks though. April 7th when The Vampire Diaries returns with 2×17 “Know They Enemy”, we’ll see how the scooby doo gang deal with mommy coming back.
MVP obviously goes to Zach Roerig. No doubt. His performance tonight was phenomenal. From high school sweetheart to having a mental breakdown when learning that all those things that go bump in the night exist. Candice Accola was amazing too. And Nina was fantastic. I can’t help but say this cast deserves so much more recognition that it gets.
