Did you think that Paul Wesley, alias the brooding Stefan from The Vampire Diaries, was just as enigmatic in his real life as he is on the show?
Think again! Actually, we met a very simple young man looking almost nonchalant as he was chewing his gum. He is definitely very nice.
Paul Wesley seems to be still little aware of the ruthlessness of the television world, not knowing much as to its business.
We asked him whether he was under pressure since The Vampire Diaries became the #1 show in the U.S. Here is what he answered:
“No, the ratings don’t talk to me. The pressure is elsewhere. People lay in wait for us when the show got started.
The first season is a wrap now and the series has earned the respect of both the industry and the fans, and this is what matters the most.
This is a good pressure, a more creative one. ”
Contrary to many actors, Paul did not intent to get in this industry. Neither was he a television kid.
He doesn’t watch any TV shows, not even Vampire Diaries’ “big sister” True Blood.
“I heard it was very different with a lot of sexual contents…I’ll have to watch!” he commented.
The actor told us he would have loved playing on Six Feet Under, “the best series ever” to him. He even joked saying the show was unfortunately ‘six feet under’ too now!
Paul Wesley also wanted to wring the neck of some rumors making clear that the CW’s work atmosphere was good. He explained that he didn’t have his say regarding the scripts though. “They never listen to me anyway! But they are professionals and I let them do their job”.
The actor is a bit jarred with these comparisons between the show and the Twilight saga.
He thinks The Vampire Diaries is a much more in-depth and glamorous series.
