Does the love triangle doom any other possible relationships in the show?
“No it doesn’t, even the love triangle is more like a square, because naughty Katherine is back. They’re going to try and integrate the other relationships this season. That way they won’t just be popping in on Caroline and Matt.”
When you were casting Elena, why didn’t you want her to be like the books?
“When Kevin and I decided to do the show we thought, you can’t dramatize this girl the way she is in the books. Elena is the heart and soul, center heroine of the show. She’s torn between the soulful one and the devil one and you can lose your audience with a girl like in the books. Nina has these big beautiful brown eyes and just let emotions pour out of her.”
“Stefan and Elena didn’t have anyone to talk too. Elena was spiritually alone and so the journal was a way of expression, but the minute they fell in love is why they don’t need to write anything down just because they’re in love.”
“They still try to keep the journaling alive with the mythology. Journals were the record keeper. Who knows, maybe Katherine has a journal?”
